Every year, presented by the Department of Canadian Heritage, the Canada Day Challenge is a well-known arts, photography and creative writing competitions for youth age 8 to 18 years old, across Canada, to share what makes them proud to be Canadian! With roots dating back to 1987, thousands of participants from across Canada have taken up the Challenge and shown their pride in Canada. Youth are invited to draw a picture (Draw it!), take a photo (Snap it!), or write a short story, a poem or an essay in either in French or in English(Write it!). Youth can also submit an entry in each of the three categories.
A total of nine finalists are selected―three from each category. Three finalists will also be selected as national winners to represent each category and be featured on the winning posters for “Celebrate Canada”.
